The S.A. Agulhas II is loaded up with supplies and the international crew is onboard, it has left its home port South Africa and is headed for the Weddell Sea in Antarctica, to begin the search for Ernest Shakleton’s Endurance. Over the next few weeks, we’ll join the ship live with Tim Jacob from Reach the World and meet different members of the team who will share their specialties as we explore the ship and dig into the mission to find one of the world’s most famous wrecks!
This time around we’ll meet Carla Ramjukadh and Marc De Vos with the South African Weather Service using new tech to monitor the unpredictable water and weather conditions of the Weddell Sea! Tim will join them live from the SAWS office aboard the ship, which is full of great weather maps and tools. We may even be able to pop out the back to show the area where the weather balloons are launched from the ship!
